This stone is very easily recognizable due to its bright green colour. Since the middle age, malachite has been used as a pigment in paint due to its clear, bright blue-green tones. Pline makes reference to it for the first time in 77. This specific piece is a an outstanding example of fiber-Malachite, made up from thousands of thin crystals that create a velvet effect.
